🍎Apple Touch Id

Apple Touch ID is a biometric authenticator present in Apple devices. It takes leverage of Secure Enclave, an isolated hardware-based security module built into Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Touch ID uses a fingerprint sensor to scan and match the unique fingerprints of the user to grant access to the device. The sensor uses a small electromagnetic field to take a detailed image of the fingerprint and then compares it to the fingerprints stored inside Secure Enclave to confirm the user's identity. The device will unlock or complete the requested action if the fingerprints match.

Only after getting authenticated through Touch ID can any software interact with the secure enclave and its keys.
